Back in 2018, GDrive Auto Salon was actively participating in car shows, showcasing pristine vehicles and our detailing expertise. One of these events was particularly unforgettable—not because of the accolades but due to a major challenge we faced.

A friend generously allowed us to use their iconic Toyota Supra JZA80 for the show. As the evening unfolded, we discovered a severe chemical burn on the passenger-side window. This wasn’t just any car; this was an original import from Japan. Replacing the window wasn’t an option, and the damage was heartbreaking. At the time, our go-to solution for watermarks was an acid-based remover, which unfortunately contributed to the issue.

It was already 8 PM, and panic started to set in. How could we fix this before the show?

A Midnight Rescue

Determined to find a solution, I reached out to my detailing mentor, explaining the dire situation. Thankfully, he introduced me to the concept of glass polishing—a method I had never tried before for such severe damage. He guided me on the materials I’d need: a specific chemical and a polishing pad.

By 11 PM, I had acquired the necessary tools and got to work. With patience and precision, I began polishing the acid-etched glass. After hours of focused effort, the damage was finally gone! The Supra’s window was restored, and the car was ready to shine the next day at the show.
